Enhancing the current calculated column feature for the end users

The creation of a calculated field by a end user is quite complex currently and is limited. We would like to have an easier interface to create calculated column. In addition, it would be also appreciated if we can specify more option such as the type of subtotal we want (Sum, Avg, Max, % of Sub-Total, % of Grand Total, etc...)
